What is the Official NIOS Notification for April 2026 Exams?
Notification 14/2026 — that is the reference number you want to save if you ever need to verify anything about this exam cycle. Full reference is F. 4-3/2026/NIOS/Eval./Theory Exam/RC, signed on 25th March 2026 by Dr. T. N. Giri, who heads the Evaluation division at NIOS in Noida.
A few things in this notification are worth paying attention to beyond just the dates. All Regional Directors have been formally asked to upload this date sheet on their regional websites and issue press releases in local newspapers. That matters because some study centres are slow to pass this information to their students. Don't wait for your centre to tell you — you're looking at the official information right now.
And one line in the notification that most students never read: there will be no change in the examination dates. Not a suggestion. A statement. We'll come back to what that actually means for students with scheduling conflicts.
When is NIOS April 2026 Exam Starting?
10th April 2026. Friday. That's day one.
Class 12 students appearing for Sanskrit Vyakaran 346, Early Childhood Care and Education 376, Inventory Management 378, or Transportation 379 are in the hall on that first day. Class 10 students writing Folk Art 244, Sanskrit Sahitya 248, Logistics and Supply Chain Management 258, or Hindustani Sangeet 242 also start on 10th April.
What Time Does the NIOS Exam Start in 2026?
Writing begins at 2:30 PM. But you get 15 minutes before that to read the question paper — so the paper lands in your hands around 2:15 PM. Use those 15 minutes deliberately. Scan everything. Decide which long-answer questions you'll attempt. Flag anything you want to come back to. Students who plan their paper during reading time consistently pace themselves better than those who just begin from question one and run out of time halfway through the back section.
Vocational papers are shorter. Several subjects on 6th May — the final day — end at 4:00 PM rather than 5:30 PM. Check your specific subject's timing in the tables below, because assuming a uniform end time for every paper will cause problems.

NIOS Exam Dates Are Different for These States – Check Before You Plan
Six states have different exam dates built into the official 2026 schedule. Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. If you are in any of these states, reading only the general date column is not enough.
The reasons behind these shifts are practical — Assembly Elections falling on exam dates in some states, competitive examinations clashing with the NIOS schedule in others, and state-specific public holidays that made the standard dates unworkable. NIOS factored all of this into the official notification.
Here is what the shifts actually look like. Karnataka students writing Mathematics 211 for Class 10 or Home Science 321 for Class 12 sit on 7th May instead of 20th April. West Bengal students writing Business Studies 215 at Class 10 level write on 7th May rather than 29th April. Bihar students appearing for Sanskrit 209 in Class 10 have their paper on 9th May instead of 23rd April. Students in Rajasthan writing Urdu 306, Sanskrit Sahitya 348, or Krishi 383 at Class 12 level appeared on 11th April. UP students writing Painting 225, Physical Education 273, or Data Entry Operations 229 at Class 10 level should note 7th May as their date.
Go through every subject you are appearing in — not just the first one — and cross-check your state. An honest mistake on dates is the kind of thing that doesn't have a good solution after the fact.
How to Download NIOS Hall Ticket 2026 – Step by Step
What Exactly is the Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket?
It's your entry pass to the exam centre. Without it you won't be allowed to sit, regardless of what other documents you carry. The official name is Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket and it's available at http://sdmis.nios.ac.in.
Downloading it takes a few minutes. Go to the portal, find the hall ticket section, enter your enrollment number and date of birth, and download the PDF. Take a proper printout — a photo on your phone won't work at the centre.
Here's the part most people rush past. Once it's downloaded, read every field on it. Your name as it appears, your photograph, the exam centre address, the list of subjects assigned to you, and the dates. If your name is misspelled even slightly, or your photograph didn't load correctly, or your exam centre looks wrong — contact your regional centre as soon as possible. Not the day before. Not the morning of. As soon as you notice it.
Getting these errors corrected takes time, and regional centres aren't always quick. The earlier you flag it, the more likely it gets resolved before 10th April.
What You Must Know Before Going to the NIOS April 2026 Exam Centre
Fifteen minutes of reading time. That's what you get before the clock officially starts. The question paper reaches you around 2:15 PM, and from that moment you can read but not write. Use it to go through every question, estimate how long each section will take, and decide your answer order. Students who arrive with no plan and start from question one and write straight through frequently run out of time before they reach questions they actually know well.
No extra fees are required at the exam centre. According to the official NIOS notification 14/2026, the examination fees already paid entitle students to appear in the theory examination. Nothing additional is owed at the centre on exam day.
Bring your Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket and a valid government-issued photo ID to every paper — not just the first one. And get there early. Thirty minutes before 2:30 PM gives you time to find your seat, settle in, and not be the person who walks in flustered two minutes before reading time ends.
When Will NIOS April 2026 Result Be Declared?
Somewhere around late June 2026. That's the realistic expectation based on the seven-week timeline stated in the official notification. Since the last exam is 6th May 2026, seven weeks from that date lands in late June.
Results go live on http://sdmis.nios.ac.in on the day of declaration. NIOS won't accept any enquiries about the exact date before the announcement, so there's no point chasing that information. Check from mid-June onward and you won't miss it.
How Will NIOS Send Mark Sheet and Certificate After April 2026 Exam?
Your Mark-Sheet-cum-Certificate and Migration-cum-Transfer Certificate come through your Accredited Institution — the AI connected to your enrollment. If that AI has shut down or been cancelled, NIOS sends your documents by post to the residential address registered in your online profile.
That second scenario is where things go wrong for students who haven't updated their address. If you've moved since you enrolled with NIOS, your certificate goes to your old address, and recovering it from there is genuinely difficult. Log into the portal today and check what address is on file. If it needs updating, do it now rather than after the result.
NIOS Has Confirmed – No Changes in Exam Dates
This bears repeating plainly. There will be no change in the examination dates. Not for any individual student. Not for any personal circumstance.
The state-specific date changes for the six affected states are already in the schedule. Those are the only variations, and they are also final. If one of your NIOS papers falls on the same day as a competitive exam, a college entrance test, or another personal commitment — you have to make a decision about that now. NIOS won't move the date for you.
Plan around the dates as they are. That's the only option.
How to Use the NIOS Date Sheet April 2026 to Plan Your Study
Pull up the table and look at the gaps between your subjects. Some are generous. Some aren't.
Biology 314 falls on 16th April and Hindi 301 falls on 17th April for Class 12 students. Back to back. If you're sitting both of those, your Biology revision needs to be finished before 16th April. There's no real window between them.
Physics on 18th April and Chemistry on 21st April gives you a Saturday and Sunday in between. That weekend is revision time, not rest time — especially if those are your harder subjects.
Mathematics 311 on 25th April has decent space around it. English 302 follows on 28th April, then Business Studies 319 on 29th April. Two papers on consecutive days. If you've left either of those until the final few days before, you're going to feel the squeeze.
6th May — the last day — packs in almost all the vocational subjects. Catering Management, Hotel Front Office, Web Designing, Computer Hardware, CRM Domestic Voice, and several others all land on that Wednesday. If you're appearing in multiple vocational papers that day, every single one of them needs to be prepared independently before you get there.
Using NIOS Study Material that's organised chapter by chapter lets you work through each subject without losing track of what you've covered and what still needs time.
Resources That Will Help You Before Your NIOS April 2026 Exam
Start with the NIOS Syllabus if you haven't already mapped your subjects properly. Knowing what's in scope versus what's peripheral changes how you spend the next few weeks.
Then get into NIOS Question Papers from previous years. Sitting with a real paper and timing yourself honestly is the fastest way to find the gaps in your preparation. Reading your notes again won't show you those gaps. A timed past paper will.
Practical subjects need file work alongside theory. For vocational and science streams, NIOS Lab Manual support is available through Unnati Education.
Students who still have TMA work outstanding — get it done before the exam begins. Your TMA marks count toward your final score, and submitting it late or submitting poor work leaves marks on the table that you didn't have to lose.
Anyone who needs clarity on the enrollment side of things can find the full NIOS admission process explained on our website.
Exam Day Checklist Before You Leave the House
Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket — printed clearly, not a phone photo. Government photo ID — carry it alongside the hall ticket. Stationery — pens, pencils, whatever your subject requires. Arrive 30 minutes before 2:30 PM. No mobile phones inside the hall. Nothing extra is owed at the centre on exam day.
Why Students Come to Unnati Education for NIOS Support
Unnati Education has been working with NIOS students in Delhi and across India since 2010. TMAs, subject notes, previous year question papers, practical files, personalised academic counselling — the team has handled all of it, for students across both Class 10 and Class 12, across every subject the NIOS board offers.
The students who come to Unnati Education are not all the same kind of student. Some are school dropouts returning to complete what they started years ago. Some are working professionals who need a Class 12 certificate to qualify for a job or a government position. Some are parents who enrolled their children in NIOS specifically to avoid the pressure of mainstream schooling. Every situation is different, and the support is built around the individual, not around a one-size-fits-all package.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the NIOS April 2026 exam start, and which subjects are on the first day?
Exams begin on 10th April 2026, a Friday, for both Class 10 and Class 12 students. Class 12 students sitting for Sanskrit Vyakaran 346, Early Childhood Care and Education 376, Inventory Management 378, or Transportation 379 appear on day one. Class 10 students writing Folk Art 244, Sanskrit Sahitya 248, or Logistics and Supply Chain Management 258 also start that day. The full schedule runs until 6th May 2026. This is confirmed in official NIOS notification 14/2026 dated 25th March 2026. Get the full subject-wise table from this page and mark every date that applies to you today, before anything else.
What is the NIOS exam time for April 2026, and is it the same for all subjects?
Most papers run from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with 15 minutes of reading time before that. But not every subject follows the three-hour format. Vocational and certificate subjects — including Catering Management 357, Food Processing 358, Data Entry Operations 632, Web Development 660, CRM Domestic Voice 661, Computer Hardware 663, and others — end at 4:00 PM or 4:30 PM depending on the paper. Folk Art 244, Natyakala 285, Carnatic Sangeet 243, and Painting both at Class 10 and Class 12 levels also have shorter durations. Check the timing column in the date sheet for your specific subject code, not the general timing.
How do I download my NIOS Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket for April 2026?
Go to http://sdmis.nios.ac.in, find the hall ticket download section, enter your enrollment number and date of birth, and download the PDF. Print it clearly on paper — a phone screenshot won't be accepted at the exam centre. Once downloaded, read every detail on it. Check your name spelling, photograph, exam centre address, and the list of subjects assigned to you. If anything looks wrong, contact your regional centre straight away. Sorting out an error during the final few days before 10th April is stressful and sometimes not possible in time, so don't delay checking.
Are exam dates really final, or will NIOS make changes if needed?
The official NIOS notification 14/2026 states explicitly that there will be no change in the examination dates. This applies to all students equally. The only built-in variations are the state-specific shifts for Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, which are already published in the official date sheet. No individual requests for date changes will be considered, regardless of reason. If your NIOS paper clashes with another exam, a job interview, or a personal event, you need to resolve that conflict yourself before the date arrives. NIOS won't accommodate it after the schedule is published.
When will NIOS declare the April 2026 results, and where can I check?
Results will be declared within seven weeks of the final examination date. Since the last paper is on 6th May 2026, results are expected around late June 2026. NIOS publishes results immediately on the day of declaration at http://sdmis.nios.ac.in. No specific date will be announced in advance, and NIOS won't entertain enquiries about the exact declaration date before the result goes live. Start checking the portal from mid-June onward. After results, your mark sheet and migration certificate will be sent through your Accredited Institution or by post to the address in your NIOS profile.
Is the NIOS date sheet for April 2026 different for students in Rajasthan, UP, and other states?
Yes, for six specific states. Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh all have some exam dates shifted from the standard national schedule. The official NIOS notification explains this is due to Assembly Elections, Competitive Examinations, and state-specific public holidays that made the general dates unworkable in those states. Students from these states must check every subject they are appearing in against the state-specific column in the date sheet. Relying only on the general dates and missing a shifted paper is a mistake that cannot be corrected after the exam date has passed.
Where can I get subject-wise notes and TMA help before the April 2026 exams?
Unnati Education provides complete subject notes, previous year question papers, TMA solutions in both typed and handwritten formats, practical file support, and direct academic counselling for NIOS students at both Class 10 and Class 12 levels. All materials are aligned with the current 2026 syllabus and the exam pattern confirmed in notification 14/2026. Call or WhatsApp the team on 9355198199 or 9899436384 for subject-specific help, TMA submission support, or any other NIOS-related query you have before 10th April.
Conclusion
The NIOS Date Sheet April 2026 is out and the schedule is final. Theory exams start on 10th April and end on 6th May 2026. Download your hall ticket from sdmis.nios.ac.in, check your state-specific dates if you are in one of the six affected states, confirm your TMA is submitted, and build your revision plan around the actual gaps between your subjects — not around how you hope the next few weeks will go.
